After a short hiatus, Radio KAIR is live and broadcasting! Originally founded in 2017 by our very own Bob Robertson, Radio KAIR has a focus and passion for providing the local Lake Houston and surrounding communities with the best in local news, weather, podcasts, talent and nostalgic music including classic country and the top hits from the 50’s to the 70’s.

From potential floods and hurricanes, to local news, events, and business, Radio KAIR was created to inform and connect with as many people as possible in the local Lake Houston area. As we go into our 9th year serving the local communities, we continue to share the same goals and passion, just with some new faces!

Bob Robertson has joined forces with Daniel Roberts to maximize Radio KAIR’S potential, as well as Ally Nona, our social media expert, and Alex "Smiley" Maddox, a veteran of broadcasting.

The four of us are so excited to connect with our local communities, and bring our love for the music of the past to the 21st century!

Though Daniel has a background in tech, he always felt drawn to something more creative and people-focused. That passion turned into action after a chance call with Bob Robertson opened the door to a whole new path, and what started as a simple conversation quickly evolved into a career. Now at Radio KAIR, Daniel combines his technical expertise with his love for connecting with people. He’s especially passionate about getting involved in the community—whether that’s volunteering, supporting local events, or just finding ways to give back. For Daniel, it’s all about building connections, sharing stories, and making a positive impact wherever we can.
His journey shows that sometimes the best opportunities come when you least expect them—and that it’s never too late to chase what excites you.

Alex "Smiley" Maddox: The Man Who Refused to Let the Storm Win

Imagine losing everything—not once, but twice in two weeks. First, a hurricane swallows your home. Then, just as you're catching your breath, a tornado tears through what's left. Most people would break. Alex Maddox? He built a global radio network from a suitcase.

For 40 years, Alex has been a powerhouse voice across Houston, Miami, and Chicago—radio booths, boardrooms, and everything in between. He's rubbed shoulders with the creators behind Breaking Bad and Fortnite, shaken hands with titans of industry, and still remembers the exact thrill of stepping into a DJ booth at ten years old. That kid never left. He just got louder.

Today, Alex has taken the role of Director at Radio Kair—a positivity-fueled global platform built to give business leaders and creators a stage they deserve. But here's the part that gives you chills: he's building it while sleeping out of a suitcase, bouncing between couches on the two properties, refusing to let a catastrophe define his comeback. That's not just resilience. That's a rebirth in real time.

And while you might know him for his voice, here's what really stops you cold: Alex is a state-trained volunteer firefighter who has personally saved over 350 lives. Not on air. On the ground. Running into burning buildings, jumping in raging waters while the rest of us are running out.

So when Alex "Smiley" Maddox talks about optimism, it's not some fluffy Instagram quote. It's the kind of optimism forged in smoke, floodwater, and the wreckage of a home he refuses to mourn—because he's too busy building the next thing.
