On June 26th -Radio KAIR made the trip to visit Henry's Home Horse and Human Sanctuary alongside the East Montgomery Chamber of Commerce to volunteer as a part of the Bobbie Bodenhamer Give Back Program; where the Chamber randomly selects a non profit in need of support.
The positive energy was electric as chamber members cleaned, helped with repairs, and even got the chance to spend time with the incredible animals of the ranch. The event was hosted by Denis and Darlene Gagnon, the owners of the ranch, who walked the volunteers through the proper protocols of maintenance and animal handling.
"Horses can feel a heartbeat over fifty feet away, and as you take the time to center yourself and find a level of calm, so do they. A calm horse and a calm human can easily find themselves in synch, which allows veterans and retired first responders suffering from ptsd to truly cultivate their own personal sanctuary. It's Empowering."- Darlene stated during the morning's orientation.
It was a day filled with great people, supporting a great cause, all to some great music, courtsey of Radio KAIR's very own Smiley, who emceed the event!

In Mid June - Station Owner Bob Robertson had the chance to sit down with Mitch and Darian, the owners of Main Street Hub, a local lounge serving wines, charcuterie boxes, and sandwiches. They're also the owners of The Rowdy Chick, a boutique located right next door on Main Street, in downtown Humble (right across from the station!)
Not only business owners, both Darian and Mitch are community leaders in Humble; each investing time and energy to organize events like Merchant Meetings for fellow owners to discuss how to best support each other and the community, to festivals like Music & Motors, and the Sip & Stroll!
Bob Robertson puts it best during the interview: "Mitch and Darian have taken the bull by the horns, and are instrumental in making so much of whats going on in downtown Humble happen."
